Emulsifying Wax

What is it? Emulsifying wax is made up of Cetearyl alcohol and sodium lauryl sulfate

Purpose : Its main purpose is to make sure that the oil and water ingredients in the recipe bind well together and stay combined. Without an emulsifier, the oils in the product do not mix with water. It is used products, such as lotions and creams (found in our Body Soufflé, Coffee Body Scrubs, Sugar Scrubs, and Turmeric Brightening Scrubs).

Origin: Coconut

 

Cetearyl alcohol

What is it? White, waxy solid made up of a combination of cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol

Purpose: Cetearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol which helps to trap water and leave the skin feeling smoother. It is not the same as other alcohols like ethyl or rubbing alcohol, which can cause irritation. Cetearyl alcohol is known to effectively condition and soften the skin and hair. It is used products, such as lotions and creams (found in our Body Soufflé).

Origin: Palm and Coconut oil (vegan friendly)

 

Preservative eco

Benzyl Alcohol, Salicylic Acid, Glycerine, Sorbic Acid

What is it? A clear, colourless to slightly straw coloured mobile liquid

Purpose: Protects against the growth of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, yeast and mould. It is used products, such as lotions and creams (found in our Body Soufflé and all of our Body Scrubs).

Origin: Palm and Coconut oil (vegan friendly)

Disclaimer: As this preservative contains Salicylic Acid, it cannot be used on babies or children under the age of 7. 

 

Cetyl alcohol

What is it? White, waxy ingredient that comes in pellets similar to beeswax.

Purpose: It is a moisturising ingredient often used as a thickener and emulsifier to bind water and oils together. It is used products, such as lotions and creams (found in our Coffee Body Scrub and Sugar Body Scrub).

Origin: Vegetable oil
